King County Juvenile Detention Center
With KJ Wright and Cooper Helfet

TNP Athlete Ambassador KJ Wright spent most of a day in the gym but not his usual training gym. He joined TNP and our partner Upower to talk with over 30 youth on the importance of training not only their bodies but their minds to get active thinking about topics like perseverance, determination, goal setting and teamwork. The impact of KJ’s words clearly resonated.
From Head of the Mental Health Clinic:
"Thank you for bringing in KJ Wright and Cooper Helfet and hopefully, they can come back soon. We have been working on goal setting with a lot of these kids and getting nowhere... Since Tuesday we have had multiple kids come in and talk about how they wanted to work on goal setting as well as figure out what they are truly passionate about. I think those two had a huge impact on our current population."
From one of our youth:
"KJ and Cooper really changed my life, I really want to start working on myself (school/grades/behavior) so when I get out I can find a Junior College or Community College to play football at."
SOS Snowboarding Event
With DeShawn Shead at Snoqualamie Pass

Fear Factor of trying something for the first time. DeShawn Shead tried snowboarding for the first time alongside 52 youth from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences going outside with our partner SOS Outreach. Talk about being eager and game for anything. DeShawn did not minding falling down in the snow in front of people and getting up and trying again. He was a perfect role model both in words and actions.
Camp Orkila Event
The Nature Project + YMCA

We have an exciting event in partnership with the YMCA coming up in which we will be flying out a few Seattle Seahawks NFL players (Sidney Rice, Cam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin) via seaplane into the San Juan Islands to connect with 200 YMCA kids (5-8th grade) for a transformative outdoor education experience at Camp Orkila.
Point Bonita Event
The Nature Project + YMCA

We are excited to announce that we will be holding another event in partnership with the YMCA at the Point Bonita camp located just across the bay from San Francisco in the Golden Gate Recreation Area. This event will involve an inspiring group of NFL players from the Oakland Raiders who will have the opportunity to experience an awesome event with 50 lucky kids.
On March 28 we had our second event of 2018. The Nature Project co-founder Cooper Helfet, and his teammates from the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks, joined TNP and a group of 80 YMCA kids for a day in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just north of San Francisco, California.
The Nature Project and YMCASF are teaming up to bring together 20 elementary school students together with TNP Co-Founder, Cooper Helfet and Kelechi Osemele, a pro-bowl guard for the Oakland Raiders at Crissy Field in San Francisco.

The Nature Project Bold & Gold Backpack Trip

In support of the YMCA’s Outdoor Youth Leadership program, Bold and Gold, The Nature Project will pair a group of our mentors with some of the most exceptional and deserving young people during a pair of 1 week long backpacking trips.
This April, The Nature Project and IslandWood are teaming up to bring together world-class athletes with Seattle-area 4th graders for four days of learning, discovery, and team-building in nature. #TeamNature Week will officially launch The Nature Project—a collective of professional athletes and community leaders committed to facilitating outdoor learning and exploration opportunities for underserved youth. Throughout the week, IslandWood educators will partner with Nature Project Mentors to co-facilitate experiences to develop students’ team building, interpersonal, and environmental literacy skills.
